Day 1: Windhoek (1 night)
Welcome to Namibia! Upon arrival at Windhoek International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to the car rental company's offices in Windhoek to complete all rental procedures. Afterwards, meet with our representative to receive your travel package and go through your route on the map. Ask any questions you may have and get ready to begin your adventure!
When you're there: Check into The Elegant Guesthouse, your standard accommodation for the night. Spend the day relaxing or take a drive to Windhoek for shopping, exploration, and a local meal. Use this time to get acquainted with your rental vehicle, stock up on necessary supplies, and unwind after your journey.

Day 2 & 3: Sossusvlei (2 nights)
After a delicious breakfast, embark on a captivating six-hour drive south to Sossusvlei, where you'll encounter Namibia's stunning dunes and vast plains.
On the way: Your route will lead you south from Windhoek to Rehoboth, then via the Remhoogte or Spreetshoogte Pass, offering excellent photo opportunities and a surreal view. Continue to Solitaire, where you can refuel before the final stretch to Sossusvlei near Sesriem. In the afternoon, consider a nature drive or sundowner drive, either independently or as part of a lodge activity.
When you're there: Your accommodation at Desert Quiver Camp is just outside the park gates, allowing you to start the day with coffee and rusks. Request a breakfast pack from the lodges for your adventure. Enter the Sesriem Gate at sunrise and explore Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. Dune 45 and other spots offer photo opportunities and dune climbing on your way back. Enjoy the stunning scenery and consider joining a lodge activity like walking trails, nature drives, or special sundowners if time permits.

Day 4 & 5: Swakopmund (2 nights)
Today, venture towards the Skeleton Coast and the vibrant town of Swakopmund, known for its diverse activities and cooler weather.
On the way: Begin early with a hot air balloon safari over the desert dunes (book in advance) or enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departure. Your six-hour drive along gravel roads is scenic, passing from dunes to plains and grassy hills. Discover the Gaub and Kuiseb Pass, cross the Tropic of Capricorn, and detour to see the Moon landscape and ancient Welwitschias. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as Hartmann's mountain zebras, springboks, and ostriches.
When you're there: In Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, numerous activities await. Try quad biking or sandboarding in the dunes, embark on a night walk to observe desert nocturnal life under the starry sky, or explore the Atlantic via a dolphin boat cruise or kayak at Pelican Point. Don't miss the opportunity to witness where the dunes meet the sea at Sandwich Harbour. A scenic flight over the area is a must!

Day 6: Damaraland (1 night)
Your next destination is Damaraland, a strikingly different environment characterized by granite boulders and distant mountains. The drive may take the entire day, depending on your chosen route, but it's worth it.
On the way: You can drive along the Skeleton Coast, stopping at Cape Cross to see old shipwrecks and heading inland at the Springbok Water Gate. Alternatively, you can visit Cape Cross and backtrack to Henties Bay, then head inland via the mining town of Uis to reach the Twyfelfontein area, with the Brandberg mountain in the distance.
When you're there: Damaraland offers opportunities to spot desert-adapted elephants and other wildlife. It's best to go with a lodge guide who knows the area and the dry ephemeral riverbeds. Explore Twyfelfontein's attractions, including rock engravings, Burnt Mountain, and Organ Pipes. For insights into the culture of the local Damara people, visit the Living Damara Museum. With just one night in the area, prioritize your activities.

Day 7: Etosha National Park - South (1 night)
Today, head east and then north to the incredible wildlife area of Etosha National Park, with a four-hour drive on good gravel and tar roads.
On the way: Stop at the Petrified Forest near Khorixas and continue to Outjo. Consider a short detour to see Vingerklip and the Ugab Terrace. Outjo is a good place to refuel and grab a bite at the bakery. Then, head to the southern entrance gate of Etosha.
When you're there: Explore the southern side of Etosha with self-drive or guided game drives in open safari vehicles. Pay the entrance fee at the gate and visit the remarkable waterholes in the area: Nebrownii, Gemboksvlakte, Homob, and the popular Okaukuejo waterhole. Witness the vast pan, home to a diverse range of wildlife and bird species.

Day 8 & 9: Etosha National Park - East (2 nights)
Take a full day's drive through the park from the southern side to the eastern side, with ample opportunities for game viewing.
When you're there: Your time in Etosha is dedicated to game viewing. Enjoy guided sunrise and sunset game drives, spend hours at various waterholes observing diverse animal species, and explore birdwatching. If you stay inside the park, experience the thrill of floodlit waterholes where wildlife comes to life during the night. Private reserves bordering the park offer additional wildlife experiences.

Day 10 & 11: Caprivi (2 nights)
Begin your journey to the Caprivi region with an early start. The well-paved roads make for a relatively easy drive with scenic stops along the way.
On the way: Visit the Otjikoto and Guinas lakes, marvel at the world's largest Hoba Meteorite, and remain cautious of livestock and children in local towns. Your goal today is to reach the Caprivi.
When you're there: The Caprivi offers a mini-Okavango Delta experience in Namibia. Enjoy game viewing at Mahango Game Park and the Buffalo Game Park, river cruises, water safaris, bush walks, birding, and fishing. Don't miss Popa Falls and explore the culture of the friendly Kavango people on a cultural tour.

Day 12, 13 & 14: Chobe National Park (3 nights)
Drive through Katima to Ngoma Bridge and enter Botswana's Chobe National Park, known for its incredible elephant populations.
On the way: Enjoy game viewing on your way to the Ngoma border post, go through immigration, and welcome yourself to Botswana. Make your way to Chobe Safari Lodge near Kasane.
When you're there: Chobe National Park is home to the world's largest population of elephants. Experience game drives and boat cruises for outstanding wildlife encounters. Our recommended schedule includes a boat cruise on the Chobe River, early morning and late afternoon game drives in Chobe National Park, and a full-day excursion to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, accessible with a day trip.

Day 15: Makgadikgadi Pans (1 night)
After breakfast, set out on an early journey to Makgadikgadi Pans, with tarred roads for an easy drive, albeit a long one.
When you're there: Arrive at Planet Baobab, located close to the village of Gweta, offering diverse accommodation options. While a two-night stay would allow for exploration of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and habituated meerkats, you can opt for a one-night stay. Nonetheless, consider the opportunity to sleep out on the pan under the stars for a truly unique experience.

Day 16 & 17: Okavango Delta (2 nights)
After breakfast, embark on the journey to Maun, leave your vehicle at the airport, and then fly by light aircraft to the Okavango Delta for two unforgettable nights.
When you're there: Enjoy water safaris, birdwatching, guided mokoro rides (traditional poled dugout canoes), walking safaris, and game viewing. Wildlife is abundant, and the scenery is breathtaking. With a two-night stay, you can opt for a full-day mokoro safari through the delta's channels or a guided game drive.
Your stay in the Okavango Delta is fully inclusive and includes scheduled camp activities.

Day 18: Central Kalahari Game Reserve (1 night)
On the way, you'll take a short flight back to Maun airport, retrieve your car, and continue west through the Kalahari Plains to your overnight accommodation.
When you're there: The Central Kalahari Game Reserve offers rhino-tracking safaris, Bushman experiences, game drives, scenic sunset drives, and excellent wildlife and cultural encounters. Use this evening to relax and enjoy a sundowner.

Day 19: Windhoek (Departure / End of Tour)
Today, you'll embark on a relatively long drive along well-maintained tarred roads, either returning to Windhoek or heading directly to Windhoek International Airport. Drop off your rental car and connect with your flight home or onward plans after what has undoubtedly been an unforgettable self-drive safari through Africa.
Our tip: Consider booking a final night in Windhoek or just outside the city to relax before your long-haul flight.
